Summary
Naturalist – Education Specialist: Full time, year-round, pay starting $18/ hour DOE. Under the direction of the Director of Education, the Naturalist – Education Specialist will support and lead programs to grow the education department and reach the mission of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. As a team member of a small not-for-profit the ideal candidate will show their ability to work with flexibility shifting between facilitating school age programming during the school year, coaching interns and working with travelers of all ages during the summer, and serving as a front-line interpreter, educator, and program developer year round. As our programs primarily feature Alaskan wildlife, environment, history, and geography we are seeking an applicant with a background and knowledge in these areas, especially pertaining to the dynamic ecosystem of Portage Valley. Compensation Information
Benefits:
- Starting $18 / hour pay rate, DOE
- Receive 10 hours of holiday pay for the following 10 holidays: Employee’s birthday, Easter, Memorial Day, fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Day.
- PTO package up to 2 weeks in first year of employment, must be employed for 3 months before the employee will be allowed to use PTO.
- Sick leave, 30 hours per calendar year, may be taken after 3 months of full-time employment
- All full-time status employees are eligible to enroll in the AWCC’s health insurance plan on the first after a 60 days of full-time service.
- Eligible to enroll in a 403(b) retirement plan on the first of the month after 60 days of full-time service. Upon the employee’s one-year work anniversary, the AWCC will match up to 3% of their paycheck per pay period.
