Join the team at The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre, a program of The Los Padres Council, Scouting America, and immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings of the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara, CA. As a naturalist, you'll be the heart of our educational programs, leading curriculum hikes, facilitating special activities, including evening campfires, and ensuring that students have a safe and unforgettable experience in the great outdoors.

Summary

Compensation: $16.50/hour + housing during the season + meals during program
Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal

The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre is hiring Naturalists to lead immersive science-based hikes, campfire programs, and outdoor activities for 5th and 6th grade students in the Los Padres National Forest. This is a residential, seasonal position with housing provided during program dates.

Responsibilities include teaching environmental science, facilitating community-building evening programs, supervising students, and supporting general camp operations. Applicants should have experience working with youth, a passion for environmental education, and the ability to hike up to 10 miles per day.

Season Dates:

Fall: Sept 15 – Dec 18, 2025
Winter/Spring: Jan 13 – June 5, 2026
Housing provided during winter break if needed
