The Natural Resource Program Center (NRPC) within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to serve as the Climate Change Coordinator for the National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) System. This position will provide critical leadership and technical support to NWRs as they navigate climate adaptation.

Who We Are
The NRPC, located in Fort Collins, Colorado, is an interdisciplinary science center focused on supporting the National Wildlife Refuge System with science-driven planning and management. Our team includes specialists in wildlife ecology, spatial analysis, climate science, air quality, water resources, and human dimensions, all working together to provide science, information, and decision support to land managers. We are forming a new climate adaptation team, and this position will lead efforts to support refuges in adapting to a changing climate.

What You’ll Do
As the Climate Change Coordinator, you will:

  • Lead the coproduction of climate adaptation for the NWR through science generation, translation, and decision support for the conservation of plants, animals and their habitats.
  • Collaborate regularly with NWR staff to ensure the tools and resources developed meet their needs.
  • Representing FWS as an expert on climate adaptation in workshops, panels and/or interagency teams
  • Work closely with USFWS Programs as well as with agencies (USGS Climate Adaptation Science Centers, National Park Service’s Climate Change Response Program, and DOI Bureaus) on climate adaptation policy and guidance to that support field staff and NWRs.

Compensation Information

Salary

$135,860–$176,620 per year

The actual salary will be based on the geographic location of the individual(s) selected for this position.
