Summary
Position Overview
The MSU Extension (MSUE) District Director is part of the MSUE Administrative Team. Supporting the counties of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Tuscola, this position develops, maintains, and coordinates relationships between MSU Extension and local community partners, provides oversight and mentoring to staff housed in the district, and employs entrepreneurial efforts to secure resources with other partners.
You will lead efforts to recruit and hire staff and will work in partnership with the MSUE Institute Directors to develop, coach, and mentor staff. You will have the responsibility to develop, maintain, and enhance relationships within the district, working closely with county boards of commissioners on budgets and other matters. You will help our partners understand the mission and impacts of MSU Extension by telling our story to community partners and organizations. You will make sure they know about the work we are doing and ensure that we are not the best kept secret, but a known and trusted partner within the communities we serve. Additionally, you will assist educators and staff in the development of appropriate community partners related to the staff member’s statewide program focus and will assist in negotiating and procuring resources and support from partners.
The counties located within District 10 are rural areas with some larger urban centers. Various types of agricultural production, manufacturing production, and tourism are the predominant economic drivers of the area. There is a unique blend of rural communities and urban areas; both with diverse programmatic needs. The office location for District 10 is the St. Clair County MSU Extension office. The district director will work throughout the District 10 counties to support MSU Extension operations and partnerships.

- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Outstanding oral, and written communication skills.
