Would you like to work on the water in 2023 and teach students about the environment on a historic Maryland Chesapeake Bay vessel? We are looking for talented outdoor educators to work on the Skipjack Sigsbee and Buyboat Mildred Belle teaching students and adults about the environment and local history.

Summary

We are actively looking for a Mate on Mildred Belle, an Educational Coordinator on Mildred Belle, and two summer crew members who would primarily help with overnight summer programs on both boats.

NEW for 2023 we are offering extended overnight summer trips. These programs are sailing and camping adventures where youth sail during the day on the boat and camp in tents at night. We run 3- and 5-day trips during a 6-week summer season. You would go with the ship and travel the Chesapeake while teaching and camping with youth ages 12-15.

As a crew member you would assist with safe vessel operations, teach students and members of the public, and facilitate maintenance projects. Crew members on the Sigsbee and Mildred Belle provide high quality, safe, and hands-on experiences for all who sail onboard these historic vessels.
