The Capitol Corridor Marketing and Communications Fellow will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that support the development and assessment of integrated marketing, communications, and customer experiences strategies.

Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

Location: Capitol Corridor, Oakland, California

Pay: $3600/month

Additional Pay: $1000 bonus upon program completion

As a vital transit service in the Northern California megaregion, Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) plays an important role in sustainable travel. With an integrated network of train and bus services, the footprint of the Capitol Corridor extends as far south as Santa Barbara up to Humboldt, Reno, and South Lake Tahoe. The Capitol Corridor Marketing and Communications Fellow will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that support the development and assessment of integrated marketing, communications, and customer experiences strategies.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Capitol Corridor Marketing and Communications Fellow will work alongside Capitol Corridor marketing and communications team, as wells as cross-functional transportation service, planning, mechanical, and administrative management staff. Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Update and maintain Capitol Corridor’s social Media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, managing content calendar, and providing input on content
  • Provide graphic design support through the creation of digital and print marketing materials
  • Develop content for news articles, blogs and newsletters featuring destination content, service updates, promotional offers, etc.
  • Update and maintain digital media library
  • Facilitate in-person and online customer engagement activities (events, online webinars, contests, etc.)
  • Provide partnership activation support through the execution of digital and print promotional materials and activities
  • Update organization website using Wordpress with current events, relevant news, etc., in addition to reviewing website for errors, broken links, etc.
  • Conduct market research and provide data analysis and reporting to assess campaigns, programs, and strategies

Past project fellows have worked on the following projects:

  • Updating Capitol Corridor’s Green Travel page
  • Revamp and enhance the Transit Transfer Program
  • Research and implementation of an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system
  • Redesign and transition of evergreen and sustainable station signage
  • Develop and execute Earth Day campaigns
  • Research and implementation of Zoho Desk, Creator and Analytics

The fellow in this position will have the opportunity to hone their marketing, communications, design, and marketing analytics skills. Additionally, the Capitol Corridor Marketing Fellow will learn expand their knowledge in the transportation sector and an intercity passenger rail system that contributes to the region's trip and carbon reduction goals.

This position will be a combination located on-site in the CCJPA office in Oakland with the potential for remote work, as well as some travel to Capitol Corridor stations, while complying with public health orders.

 

CLIMATE CORPS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Availability for the full-time, 10-month Fellowship program, beginning in September 2021
  • Climate Corps Fellows must have completed a 4-year degree by the time the program cycle starts in September 2021. 
  • A connection to the placement location. This is an equal opportunity position and we prefer to place a candidate who already lives in the region being served.
