The Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium inspires an appreciation of insects and their relatives through educational programs and innovative science exhibits featuring live invertebrates. The Lead Camp Educator’s focus is the implementation of our 2025 Summer Camp program, including programs for grades Pre-K to 5th grade.

Summary

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide direct leadership for up to 15 campers throughout weekly day camp sessions at the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium and offsite outdoor locations
Assist in overseeing camper safety and creating an emotionally healthy camp environment
Work with Education Coordinator to plan and teach educational programs related to the natural sciences for varied age groups
Facilitate a wide range of activities including games, crafts, nature hikes, and other hands-on activities
Assist Education Coordinator in overseeing all aspects of camps, including but not limited to planning weekly curricula, managing camper behavior, and maintaining teaching supplies
Support and mentor Summer Education Interns and volunteers
Understand and be able to implement emergency procedures and approved safety practices
Develop and maintain excellent communication with the Operations Director, Education Coordinator, interns, volunteers, and camper parents/guardians

Compensation Information

$15-17/hour
