Are you an educator experienced in program design, passionate about plants and the environment, and committed to supporting the Gardens’ IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) goals? We're looking for an Interpretation and Exhibits Program Manager excited about inspiring meaningful connections among people, plants, and nature in one of the most beautiful settings in Maine.

Summary

The Interpretation and Exhibits Program Manager oversees a wide array of informal learning and hands-on experiences at the Gardens, including interpretive signage, permanent and temporary exhibits, interactive programs, and guided tours. In addition, they are also responsible for important wayfinding materials for guests, including our guest map and wayfinding signage throughout the Gardens. They collaborate closely with the Volunteer Engagement Program Manager to support the Gardens’ volunteer docent program throughout the season.   This position plays a key role in advancing CMBG’s strategic priority of ensuring our public engagement deepens participants’ appreciation of the natural world and inspires action on climate change and conservation.

This position works closely with the Guest Experience Department to facilitate the integration of public learning programs with the Gardens’ overall operations, and to embed informal learning as an integral part of the guest experience. They also work closely with other mission departments, including Horticulture and Plant Science & Conservation, to fully integrate their mission-focused work into externally focused education initiatives. As such, this position plays a key role in advancing CMBG’s strategic priority of ensuring our public engagement deepens participants’ appreciation of the natural world and inspires action on climate change and conservation. In addition, the Program Manager works to develop and implement new strategies to support equity and inclusion in the Gardens’ programs, and, through the development of the Master Interpretive Plan and other planning cycles, is chiefly responsible for shaping and guiding the growth of program initiatives over a multiyear timeframe.
