The Mississippi Aquarium is seeking an innovative, creative individual to share the incredible stories of Mississippi's aquatic habitats and animals found from the Delta to the Gulf Coast. As part of the guest experience team, the Informal Education Lead will help develop and deliver interpretive programs, on-site presentations, tours, encounters, and sleepovers. Additional duties include assisting with onboarding new staff and creating daily staff schedules.

Summary

The Mississippi Aquarium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to be the window to the waters of the Mississippi, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. Our goal is to foster an appreciation for the aquatic environments of Mississippi and encourage guests to explore these majestic environments and play a more active role in local research and conservation efforts. 

Responsibilities (include but not limited to): 

  • Facilitate and lead tours, encounters, and visitor programs.
  • Help coordinate, support, and create unique and memorable experiences for  ZZZ’s by the Sea sleepovers.
  • Develop and deliver interpretative programs, presentations, and activities for adults, families, and children.
  • Create daily staff schedules and ensure all MSAQ stations are manned.
  • Update and maintain the MSAQ Interpretation & Visitor Programs Portal.
  • Support daily operations and guest experience staff.
  • Follow and enforce guest policies and safety protocols.
  • Attend all relevant meetings and trainings.
  • Train for and handle ambassador animals for educational experiences.
  • Represent Mississippi Aquarium in a positive manner by maintaining a service-oriented disposition and using superior customer service to address challenges.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment, cross-train and support all other Guest Experience areas with projects, planning, and training.
  • Work weekends, evenings, holidays, and overnights when necessary.

Compensation Information

Compensation: 

$33,280 ($16/hour)
