The Impact, Measurement, and Evaluation (IME) Associate develops, executes, and analyzes audience research initiatives to advance the Zoo’s strategic goals and overall evidence-based planning. This position will work closely with the Director of Mission Integration to ensure that the Zoo is achieving its mission goals and specifically aims to deepen and expand audience engagement with the Zoo’s programs.

Summary

The Impact, Measurement, and Evaluation (IME) Associate develops, executes, and analyzes audience research initiatives to advance the Zoo’s strategic goals and overall evidence-based planning. This position will work closely with the Director of Mission Integration to ensure that the Zoo is achieving its mission goals and specifically aims to deepen and expand audience engagement with the Zoo’s programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, build, and implement audience research initiatives that support the strategic goals of the Philadelphia Zoo.
  • Collect and analyze data and report on results to relevant teams throughout the Zoo.
  • Synthesize and summarize key stakeholder data to inform business decisions.
  • Work closely with various department leaders to develop appropriate tools for evaluating programs, exhibits, experiences, and new initiatives.
  • Identify information gaps and propose methods to address oversights.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the diverse needs and expectations of our audiences.
  • Regularly ensure that evaluation protocol is being following and data is collected rigorously.
  • In collaboration with the Direction of Mission Integration, work with various teams throughout the Zoo to suggest future directions based on results.
  • Ability to instruct others on evaluation techniques to allow for collaboration in research development and data collection.
  • Ability to mentor and coordinate young professionals through the Zoo’s various entry-level and internship programs.
  • Exceed the expectations of the Zoo guests by providing friendly, outgoing and exemplary service in accordance with the Zoo’s culture of excellence and commitment to the guest experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in evaluation and applied research, social science, educational psychology, museum studies, or a relevant field.
  • Ability to manage qualitative and quantitative data and synthesize it into strategic summaries for all Zoo stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with a special emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Fluent in statistical analysis software and ability to make recommendations on software usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in working with a diverse team of individuals and an extremely diverse audience.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that will include weekends, evenings and holidays.

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work around animals and plants.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods, climb stairs, bend and stoop.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks including; criminal records and PA Child abuse clearance. FBI clearance required for all non-PA residents.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or willing to receive a complete Covid 19 vaccination, including booster.
