The program coordinator helps the manager with all aspects of the Headwaters Science Institute’s school and camp programs in the Bay Area. This person is responsible for helping plan, teach, staff, and schedule all summer camps and programs in the Bay Area. The program coordinator will work with the manager to help market the programs. In support of this effort, the program coordinator is responsible for the collection and dissemination of all necessary materials for highlighting the programs. As a staff member, they represent and promote Headwaters Science Institute to all potential and current stakeholders including: schools/teachers, donors, program parents, and the public in Northern California and beyond, to increase the reach of programs and perpetuate HSI’s growth. We are especially interested in increasing diversity in program participants with more underserved students.

Summary

Essential Job Function: Program and Camp coordinator 

Help the Bay Area Manager:

  • organize and plan programs: helping with curriculum development, scheduling programs, staffing and training staff, program materials, permitting, communication with staff, students’ parents, and teachers, and reserving overnight accommodations as needed. 
  • Teach at the school and camp programs
  • Program implementation, including high-quality instruction and planning
  • Communicate and coordinate with teachers for programs
  • Serve as a contact person for mentors, teachers, and parents during programs
  • Help with marketing and participate in marketing media (e.g. videos, blog posts, etc.). Having design skills and basic video editing and social media skills is a plus.
  • Introduce Headwaters programming to new teachers, students, and parents, including writing blog posts and helping with the newsletter
  • Help plan and staff Headwaters outreach booths, events, and fundraisers
  • Help improve programs, curriculum, and materials, including making new materials
  • Community building: Fostering a sense of community, identifying and engaging potential supporters, especially among the program parents
  • Outreach to new schools/teachers
  • Help at other Headwaters Camps and Programs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation Information

Reports To: Bay Area Program Manager
Status: Hourly $24-$28 per hour, 20-30 hours per week average (40-50 hours during camps and programs)
