Having prior experience in outdoor education is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen with the ability to focus on strategy and team development while maintaining existing partnerships and forging new revenue channels.
Summary
What we're looking for:
• Demonstrated ability to hire, train, motivate, supervise and evaluate staff
• Demonstrated experience evolving program design in alignment with feedback, budget, and a strategic plan
• Ability to build and manage an almost six million dollar budget, aligning educational and financial goals
• Able to contribute to organizational policy and decision-making and represent Outdoor Learning Experiences in Teton Science Schools' operational and strategic decisions
• Demonstrated ability to build long-term department vision aligned with larger organizational goals

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
• Primarily indoors in an office setting: sitting and standing for long stretches while using a computer
• May be expected to work evenings, weekends to support special programs/events
• Some work in the field in all weather conditions
• Carry a backpack of 20+ lbs for 8 hours a day
• Ability to drive a 15 passenger van or mini-bus
Responsibilities:
Outdoor Learning Experiences Strategy and Execution
• Develop and manage the annual operating plan and multi-year planning on behalf of all Outdoor Learning Experiences program offerings
• Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Outdoor Learning Experiences department
• Partner with the Chief Executive Officer, Leadership Teams, and head of program peers to plan and implement program area strategy and achieve established goals
• Lead the implementation and evaluation of scalable operational and programmatic systems (i.e., calendar utilization, logistics, staff training, etc.)
• Responsible for integration of Outdoor Learning Experiences curriculum to achieve exceptional student outcomes
• Ensure regular assessment and evolution of program content and systems to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Partner with the Chief Executive Officer , Senior Leadership Team, and head of program peers to plan and implement program area strategy and achieve established goals
Wildlife Expeditions Strategy and Execution
• Develop and manage the annual operating plan and multi-year planning on behalf of all Wildlife Expeditions program offerings
• Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Wildlife Expeditions department
• Lead the implementation and evaluation of scalable operational and programmatic systems (i.e., calendar utilization, logistics, staff training, etc.)
• Responsible for integration of Outdoor Learning Experiences curriculum to achieve exceptional student outcomes
• Ensure regular assessment and evolution of program content and systems to insure quality and efficiency.
Food Service
• Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Food Service department
• Lead the implementation and evaluation of scalable operational and programmatic systems (i.e., calendar utilization, logistics, staff training, etc.)
Team Leadership
• "Supervise the Field Education Directors , Wildlife Director and Executive Chef, lead the Outdoor Learning Experiences, Wildlife Expeditions and Food Service teams to achieve programmatic outcomes and strong financial
performance across three residential campuses."
• Accountable for team's annual staff training to assure that all programming adheres to Teton Sciences Schools' operating guidelines, academic pillars, and risk management policies and best practices
• Accountable for the effective communication and collaboration between Outdoor Learning Experiences/Wildlife Expeditions/Food Service and all shared services/Central Admin departments (Development, Finance, Property Management, etc.) and other program areas of Teton Science Schools.
• Accountable for the hiring, training and supervision of qualified administrative, field staff and food service staff
Financial Oversight
• Manage and build the Outdoor Learning Experiences /Wildlife Expeditions budget
• Accountable for the programmatic and financial outcomes of Outdoor Learning Experiences/Wildlife Expeditions
• Partner with Chief Financial Officer and other cross-departmental stakeholders to develop cost-efficiencies and financial value-add on behalf of Outdoor Learning Experiences/Wildlife Expeditions/Food Service
One Teton Science Schools Responsibilities
• Contribute towards the vision, strategy, and operational execution of Teton Science Schools' mission of transformative place-based education.
• Represent Teton Science Schools to appropriate community, regional, and national events and groups.
• Participate in cross departmental Working Groups to achieve Teton Science Schools' operational and educational strategies.
• Periodically carry the program/senior leadership on-call phone.
• A member of the Teton Science Schools Senior Leadership Team.
