The Nature Camp Director is responsible for assisting in the development, organization, implementation, and directing of a complete recreational nature day camp program. This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of campers and staff from five to eleven years of age.
Summary
The Nature Camp Director is responsible for assisting in the development, organization, implementation, and directing of a complete recreational nature day camp program. This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of campers and staff from five to eleven years of age.
- Assists the Outdoor Recreation Supervisor in the planning, preparation and organization of well-diversified and structured educational programs for campers that focus around nature, that range from five to eleven years of age. Activities are educational and nature based and may include hikes and working with animals and plants.
- Oversees the day-to-day camp activities including but not limited to assisting camp counselors with activities and programs, teaching camp activities, maintaining daily attendance and activity records and reports, and safety of the campers. May attend weekly staff meetings to coordinate lesson plans for the following week.
- Responsible for assisting in the planning, development and execution of weekly lesson plans.
- Responsible for the maintenance and inventory of camp supplies and equipment.
- Supervises counselors including but not limited to preparing job tasks and overseeing interaction with campers.
- May be required to make decisions regarding inclement weather in regards to camp activities, which may warrant cancelling participation or seeking shelter.
- Responsible for maintaining order and discipline amongst campers; safeguarding their health and safety at all times while the camper is participating in camp activities.
- Wears approved attire at all times.
- Reports to scheduled work shifts on time.
- Attends required meeting and training sessions.
- Employee may be asked by the supervisor or acting supervisor to perform other duties that are not listed but are essential to the job.
