Garden/Food Educators

Each AmeriCorps Community-based Food Educator will serve as the lead educator at one or more of Common Threads' partner community sites, including but not limited to community centers and affordable housing complexes. In most cases, this will involve leading after school and school break camp-style programs that involve cooking a free meal and/or gardening with kids of all ages. Depending on the site, service may also include coordinating community-site garden maintenance and improvement projects. While the majority of the Community-based Food Educator’s time will be spent at their assigned community sites, this position also includes time for in person or computer-based preparation, training, and the opportunity to support/co-teach with other Food Educators.
