Summary

Located on 115 acres in central Maryland, Bar-T offers child care, summer camps, and outdoor and environmental education programming at our Mountainside campus. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Garden Educator and Manager. Along with managing the garden and high tunnel, you will have the opportunity to grow our existing Harvest Clubs and Camp.

We are looking for a educator who can manage a one acre garden, 40’ x 70’ high tunnel, and deliver agricultural education to school aged children. Garden production is typically for educational purposes. The option to expand garden production to support CSAs or other market ventures is possible. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, highly-organized, and flexible individual with a few years of farming/gardening experience who is comfortable working with youth.

This is a full-time position with two components, school year and summer. The roles and responsibilities of the position will vary based on the time of year. During the school year this position requires managing the garden, high tunnel, and traveling to various Bar-T centers to facilitate Harvest Club. Harvest Club typically takes place between 3:00/3:30 and 5:30 in Montgomery County Schools. In the summer this position requires maintaining the farm, high tunnel, and running Harvest Camp as a specialist and head counselor. Summer sessions run roughly 8-10 weeks from June through August.  The camp day runs from 8:30 to 4:00 with occasional extended hours.
