Summary
Fishing Skills Instructor (May-August) We are looking for a talented, self-motivated individual who will be responsible for leading fishing skills programs as an essential component of both organization’s education and outreach missions. Instructor will implement spin and fly fishing skills programs throughout the Twin Cities metro area. The purpose of these programs is to provide youth and their families with engaging, fun, and educational fishing opportunities within their local communities and watersheds. Programs are scheduled during weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Reports to: MNTU Education Program Supervisor & FFA LLC Owner
Location: Twin Cities Metro Area
Minnesota Trout Unlimited mission is to conserve, protect, restore, and sustain Minnesota’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds. MNTU believes that a strong community of anglers, conservation organizations and businesses working together and engaging with the resource is key to maintaining the waters we care about. MNTU connects communities with their watersheds through youth and adult fishing programs.
Fishing for All LLC offers guided fishing trips, classes, and overnight camps. We specialize in fly fishing, river spin fishing, and ice fishing. FFA's mission is to teach fishing, grow anglers, and advocate for our home waters. We strive to make fishing fun, educational, and inclusive.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead fun, positive, and experiential spin and fly fishing skills programs.
- Represent MNTU and FFA at fishing related community events.
- Maintain communication with partner organization contacts as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with volunteers signed up to assist with programs.
- Conduct regular materials/equipment inventory and maintenance.
- Take pictures at programs and events for social media posts.
- Perform additional job-related duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, outdoor recreation, natural sciences, or related field. Students with a focus in these areas and applicable experience are welcome and encouraged to apply.
- Experience implementing environmental education and/or outdoor recreation programs with youth and families in a variety of settings.
- Personal and/or instructional level spin fishing experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours and weekends as required.
- Exceptional organization and planning skills.
- Ability to be flexible, work independently, and multi-task.
- Team player with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Fluency in microsoft office and google drive suite of applications.
- Current First Aid and CPR training (or commitment to obtain).
- Possess a reliable mode of transportation able to perform job-related duties to include transporting fishing equipment and supplies.
- Willingness to travel to various locations throughout Twin Cities metro area.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications

- Personal and/or instructional fly fishing experience.
- Working knowledge of fish habitat, ecology, AIS, and watershed related education.

Compensation Information
- May 1st – August 31st (start and end dates are flexible).
- $20.00/hour plus mileage reimbursement at the current federal rate.
- 16 weeks, 32 hours/week average (hours/week will vary depending on program needs).
- Independent contractor (non-employee) position.
