and Scout Program. NJSGC provides dynamic ocean science programs that include outdoor experiential learning activities such as seining, interactive games, scientific demonstrations, as well as laboratory learning.
Summary
Position Description: As a Field Instructor, your job will be to lead school or scout groups and facilitate outdoor learning through Sandy Hook’s salt marsh and beach environments. Occasional classroom facilitation is needed for indoor laboratory learning activities.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in ocean sciences or education, for those with previous teaching experience, or for those who want to share their enthusiasm for the ocean environment.
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
- Interested candidates should be 18 years old or older.
- No prior experience is required.
- A background in any of the environmental sciences, education, or knowledge of coastal environments is a plus.
NJSGC will provide paid training to implement programs and become familiar with Sandy Hook as an “outdoor” classroom.
Scheduling is flexible and weekend work is available.
Salary is $15 per hour rate, hours based on availability.
