Washington Sea Grant (WSG) has an exciting opportunity for a Fellowships and Workforce Development Specialist who will administer competitive coastal and marine fellowship programs, identify professional development opportunities for current fellows and alumni, and incorporate equitable and inclusive best practices across our workforce development programs. Reporting to the Fellowships and Research Specialist, the Fellowships and Workforce Development Specialist works collaboratively with WSG team members and external program partners to develop, innovate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate WSG’s fellowships programs and provides services to WSG applicants, fellows, alumni and mentors.

Summary

WSG supports seven different fellowship programs serving graduate students (primarily) and some undergraduate students. In partnership with the Fellowships Team, the Fellowships and Workforce Development Specialist will regularly engage in proactive communication and collaboration with a wide range of individuals and organizations to ensure effective implementation of WSG fellowship program priorities.

The specific objectives of the Washington Sea Grant fellowship programs, are to:

  • Encourage qualified students in Washington to pursue careers in marine and coastal science and/or policy.
  • Increase available expertise and capacity at partnering agencies and organizations in Washington relevant to the use, management, and conservation of coastal and marine resources.
  • Foster relationships between WSG and state and tribal natural resource agencies and other host organizations.
  • Provide mentorship and real-world experience to students to accelerate their career development.
  • Expand the diversity and representation of coastal and marine professionals in Washington with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice.

Compensation Information
