Summary
The Environmental Educator (NE) will be responsible for delivering high quality, experiential education programs and lessons to all ages and assist with organizational details and logistics involved in delivering these programs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate interactive and inquiry-based environmental education programs to learners of all ages in multiple settings including but not limited to schools, community engagements, special events, partner outreach events and virtual programs.
• Assist with curriculum design, program promotion, pre-program communication, development of materials, and program evaluation.
• Assist with daily operations including program registrations, collecting and synthesizing program data, and supply inventory.
• Implement community events and school programs, including but not limited to After School Nature and Family Nature Clubs.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities desired (unless otherwise noted):
• Ability to foster meaningful connections with rural and diverse communities
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn local bird species and how to identify them
• Excellent organizational, logistical and time-management skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and roles efficiently
• Effective communication and customer service skills, including public speaking and interacting with participants of all ages
• Solid understanding of environmental education standards and philosophy
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and personal transportation. A Nebraska Game and Parks Commission vehicle is typically available for travel to program site, however, minimal use of personal vehicle may be necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed per policy if personal vehicle is used.
• Ability to lead hikes on various terrain in outdoor settings
• Able to clear state and federal background checks and drug screens
Education and Experience desired:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in natural resources, life sciences, environmental interpretation, or education
• Experience leading informal environmental education/interpretation programs to diverse audiences, including children

Compensation Information

Salary: $16.00/hour
