Heritage Conservancy seeks to hire enthusiastic and passionate educators who will assist with the implementation of school-based and public educational programs for all ages on a range of topics. This role provides environmental education programming at schools, Heritage Conservancy preserves, and community events to connect people with nature and build their comfort in outdoor spaces. The Environmental Educator will work as part of the Education and Community Programs team throughout Bucks County, PA. Educators will be trained on a variety of topics including watersheds, water quality, environmental issues, ecosystems, wildlife, and more.
Summary
Essential Functions:
- Assist with implementing in-person educational programming for K-12 students at local schools and/or Heritage Conservancy preserves throughout Bucks County. Support programming, especially in the Bristol Township School District.
- Engage community members in interactive educational activities at public programs and tabling events with partner organizations.
- Lead small groups of students in hands-on activities tied to various curricular themes such as watersheds, ecosystems and more.
- Guide small groups on hikes through preserves based on program needs.
- Work closely with the Education and Community Programs Team to deliver high quality programs that are responsive to school and community needs.
- Maintain any necessary documentation for programming and activities via photos and data collection for communications and reporting purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in environmental science, education, related field or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of experience working with children and/or delivering public programming.
