Summary

The North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG) offers a variety of hands-on outdoor learning experiences for children and families designed to make meaningful connections to plants and nature. From preschool classes to school field trips to camps, we strive to foster appreciation for the environment, instill a sense of place and wonder, and cultivate a love for science-learning. Programs utilize the NCBG’s native plant gardens and nature trails to create fun and dynamic nature-based education programs.

The Garden seeks a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual who is passionate about nature-based learning to join the Youth Education Program team. This position will plan, prepare, and teach high-quality environmental education programs for children (PreK-5) and families. Types of programs include: spring, summer, and teacher workday camps; early childhood classes; family workshops; and school field trips. The educator will assist with developing and maintaining teaching resources, educational exhibits, and self-guided interpretive activities, as well as supporting program administrative duties.

This is a temporary, 11-month position.

Work Schedule: 30 hours per week; Monday through Friday; typically between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Hours increase to 40 hours per week during the summer camp season. Must be available one weekend per month based on program needs.

Compensation Information

$20 per hour
