Summary

The Wahsega 4-H Center is part of Georgia 4-H which is part of the University of Georgia system. Our focus is on youth programs in the outdoors. We have a small friendly staff who are all committed to making our old camp a wonderful place for children to visit.

This role involves coordination, management, supervision, customer service, delivery and promotion of youth programs. This incumbent is responsible for operation of the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program at the Wahsega 4-H Center. Frequent evening and weekend work is required. On-site housing is provided. Work will include hiring, training and supervision of seasonal environmental education staff and daily operation of residential and day-use programs for school audiences in grades K-12. Job responsibilities also include care for program animals, overseeing high ropes equipment and operation, and assisting the center director in training and supervising summer camp counselors. Other duties includes helping out in other departments at the Wahsega 4-H center as needed such as dining hall, maintenance and housekeeping. Occasional work to support the state-wide 4-H system includes leading Red Cross CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding classes and working with program coordintators from other 4-H Centers as assigned. This position will be under the leadership of the State 4-H Environmental Education Coordinator as well as the Wahsega 4-H Center Director, who serves as the direct supervisor.

Beachelor's degree required. Work experience in environmental education in a camp setting is required. Experience in taking care of reptiles and leading high ropes activities required.

 

Compensation Information

$40,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year.  Job type: Full time exempt.  3 bedroom house onsite at the camp is part of your compensation.
