Summary
Organizational Mission Statement:
Cape Fear River Watch protects and improves the water quality of the Cape Fear River Basin for all people through education, advocacy, and action.
Intern Title/Role: Environmental Education Intern
Term of Internship: May 22 - July 26, 2024
Compensation: $4,800 stipend
Position Description:
The Environmental Education Intern will assist in:
- Co-lead 4 weeks of CFRW Summer Nature Camp for youth ages 8-12 alongside program staff; camps are full-day camps and run the weeks of June 10-14, June 24-28, July 8-12, July 22-26.
- Lead other educational programming, including walking ecotours & STEM youth programming
- Assist at the Greenfield Lake boathouse to rent out paddle boats, canoes, & kayaks to the public
- Help plan and attend community outreach, tabling, and fundraising events
- Assist with water quality projects, including field work and lab work
- Contribute to CFRW's website and social media channels
- Assist with general office operations
Skills of Intern:
- Experience working with children and/or the public
- Strong oral communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning, teaching, and environmental conservation efforts
- Strong work ethic, and ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
- Excellent organizational skills
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
