The Environmental Education Fellowship (EE Fellows) is a professional growth opportunity open to individuals interested in gaining skills in environmental education. Integral to Riverbend’s success as a regional leader, EE fellows support the organization in implementing new strategies for deepening our impact. EE fellows will be trained in inquiry-based learning pedagogy, outdoor and nature-based learning strategies.

Summary

The Environmental Education Fellowship (EE Fellows) is a professional growth opportunity open to individuals interested in gaining skills in environmental education. Integral to Riverbend’s success as a regional leader, EE fellows support the organization in implementing new strategies for deepening our impact. EE fellows will be trained in inquiry-based learning pedagogy, outdoor and nature-based learning strategies.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with Community of Practice educators virtually. 
  • Work collaboratively with environmental educators and elementary school teachers to facilitate Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences at schools in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
  • Teach environmental education lessons in classrooms and outdoor spaces to elementary school students in various locations in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
  • Implement evaluation tools using protocol developed by external evaluators and Riverbend staff.
  • Assist with husbandry for Riverbend’s program animal collection and living aquaponics system.
  • Daily maintenance of program areas and supplies.  
  • Other duties as needed to ensure the success and sustainability of Riverbend Environmental Education Center.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Interest in Environmental Education, Biology, Ecology or other related field
  • Experience working with audiences from various age groups, backgrounds and cultures.
  • Experience in teaching education programs, formally or informally is encouraged.
  • Good communication skills and relationship building skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Google platforms and other educational technology.
  • Passionate about Riverbend’s mission
