Mission Statement
To educate the public about South Florida's wildlife, natural history, and environment; rehabilitate injured and orphaned native animals; and promote healthy outdoor living.
Immediate Opening: Environmental Education Coordinator
Position Type
Approximately 30 to 40 hours per week, depending on the season.
Typical Schedule
Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Sunday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Full-day participation is required for special events and all scheduled camps.

Position Responsibilities
- Deliver existing environmental education programs and develop new programs for a variety of audiences at Sawgrass Nature Center, client locations, and virtual platforms.
- Safely handle and present educational animals during programs, presentations, and public events.
- Manage all aspects of educational programming, including marketing, scheduling, booking, invoicing, and program administration.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of Camp Wild during Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions, including recordkeeping and the training and supervision of volunteer CITs and counselors.
- Write weekly educational blog content.
- Assist with the management of and content development for the organization's social media platforms.
- Promote and market Sawgrass Nature Center programs and services through outreach events, on-site activities, and online channels.
- Assist with daily operations, including grant writing, administrative duties, facility maintenance, and customer service.
- Support fundraising activities and special events.
- Assist other departments and programs as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Education, or a related natural science field.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with elementary-aged children.
- Comfortable working with and handling a variety of animals, including birds, reptiles, and mammals.
- Ability to teach and lead programs in an active outdoor environment and in varying weather conditions.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software.
- Working knowledge of Canva.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to solve problems independently.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Positive, outgoing, and professional demeanor.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to use personal transportation to transport educational animals to off-site programs when necessary.
- Willingness to assist in other areas of the organization as needed.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Compensation Information
$17/hr with possible annual bonus.
