Summary
General Function:
Under the general supervision of the Economic Empowerment Manager and in partnership with the Ways to Work (WTW) Coordinator this position will lead the expansion of the program to focus on EVs (electric vehicles, mainly cars and bicycles). This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating this program expansion. In addition, this position will collaborate with a multiprogram team to design and implement a climate justice and community voice engagement plan aimed at better understanding the barriers low-income communities face in accessing clean technologies, climate justice resources and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program development
- Design and implement new programing to help low and moderate income clients access electric cars and bikes
- Design and implement new community education about the possible benefits of EVs and other related climate change issues
- Member of a team who lead agency-wide climate justice efforts with a racial justice focus
Outreach and education
- Create materials and conduct community outreach about the Ways to Work (WTW) program and the benefits of Electric Vehicles (EV)
- Partner with other community organizations to bring EV education to the communities in which we work
- Solicit community feedback on barriers to getting an EV and incorporate feedback into outreach efforts
- Create community partnerships with EV sellers to help with clients purchasing cars and bikes
Increasing access to EVs through the Ways to Work loan program
- Develop new systems to increase referrals and applications for Ways to Work
- Conduct WTW orientations, intakes and screening
- Work closely with WTW Coordinator to ensure eligible clients enter the program
- Support client access to rebates and tax credits they may be eligible for when purchasing an EV
Collaboration with Climate Justice team
- As a member of the Climate Justice Team will help educate MFS staff on climate related topics and support agency goals to incorporate climate justice perspectives into each area of MFS programming. Connect this work to the agency strategic plan and commitment to incorporating community feedback
- As a member of the Climate Justice Team, let the values of equity, diversity and inclusion work guide the planning
- Gather and distribute ongoing climate resiliency outreach and education news, resources, and opportunities
- Closely collaborate with the MFS staff to create a community-informed climate justice engagement plan for AmeriCorps Members that will include data collection, focus groups, and MFS event outreach
- Support and mentor AmeriCorps members as they carry out the climate justice plan
- Support community feedback data collection and analysis as needed
