Okanogan Conservation District is seeking an Education Specialist to lead their preK-12 education programs. The district strives to create opportunities for area youth to explore and learn about the local natural environment. The Education Specialist will teach students outside, organize field days, and support school gardens in Okanogan County. The region is well-known for superb recreational opportunities and outdoor activities for every season!

Summary

Okanogan CD is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join the district as an Education Specialist. The Education Specialist will deliver quality natural resource and conservation education experiences to Okanogan County youth in pre-K through 12th grades. These programs are conducted in classrooms, outdoor settings, and community learning events, such as the Okanogan County Fair, farmers markets, and other community events.

Current priority projects include: delivering existing lesson plans on priority natural resource topics in collaboration with local educators; assisting with the coordination and implementation of eight local school gardens; developing new educational lesson plans based upon feedback from educators, students, and district priorities; and assisting with the coordination and implementation of the Ecology of the Okanogan class.

Compensation Information

$24.61 to $25.20 per hour (Range 50, Step A through L), to start DOE. Performance-based yearly wage increases after a satisfactory 6-month probationary period up to $32.27 per hour.
