The Education Program Coordinator has advanced knowledge of natural history and wildlife tracks and sign and is passionate about sharing that knowledge with others. The EPC will lead SVC education programs for adults and youth and coordinate volunteer and citizen science efforts. The EPC will work with the Education Director to build the annual calendar of programs, develop and teach natural history curriculum, and work with partnering schools and organizations to deliver experiential education to youth 18 and under.

Summary

The Education Program Coordinator (EPC) has advanced knowledge of natural history and wildlife tracks and sign and is passionate about sharing that knowledge with others. The EPC will lead SVC education programs for adults and youth and coordinate volunteer and citizen science efforts. The EPC will work with the Education Director to build the annual calendar of programs, develop and teach natural history curriculum, and work with partnering schools and organizations to deliver experiential education to youth 18 and under. The EPC will work with the Creative and Communications Director and Assistant to create marketing and outreach related to these programs. The EPC may also support college field programs and other organizational events. The EPC is directly supervised by the Education Director.

Requirements
• Enthusiastic about Swan Valley Connections’ mission and capable of transmitting that to students, partner organizations and supporters
• Passionate about connecting people of all ages to the natural world through experiential learning
• Bachelor’s Degree in outdoor education, environmental studies/science, natural resource management, biology, ecology or related field
• Experience managing groups of people outdoors and mitigating risk
• Advanced knowledge of natural history of the Rocky Mountains
• Expert knowledge of wildlife tracks & sign
• Ability to provide leadership and structure in wilderness settings and experience safely camping and hiking in remote locations where grizzly bears are present
• Desire to live and work in a rural community
• Wilderness First Responder / CPR Certification
• Ability to be adaptable to changing environmental conditions, fluctuating deadlines, and organizational needs
• Ability to work well with a team and independently
• Open to receiving and giving feedback
• Desire to work with and interact with a variety of people and organizations
• Proficiency in MS Office software and Google Apps (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar)
• Valid Montana driver’s license and clean driving record
• Willingness to travel, camp overnight with students, work overtime, evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Experience/Skills/Abilities:
• Master’s Degree in outdoor education, environmental studies/science, natural resource management, biology, ecology or related field
• Experience teaching and building curriculum for outdoor education programs
• CyberTracker Track & Sign certification of level III or higher
• Certified Montana Master Naturalist

Compensation Information

Salary: $46,000-$48,000 DOE

Benefits: Paid annual leave, paid sick leave, paid federal holidays, SIMPLE IRA retirement savings plan with employer match, and health insurance with employer contribution (after completion of the 6- month probationary period).
