Summary
Washington Service Corps and AmeriCorps host site Palouse Conservation District are actively seeking an AmeriCorps Member to serve as the Education and Outreach Technician with our Education and Outreach Department to deliver environmental education services to our local community in schools and outdoor settings and help implement conservation practices with local volunteer groups and students.
The three main goals of this position are to:
- Educate and raise community awareness of the importance of stewardship behaviors and conservation practices that influence water quality and the impacts of point and non-point source pollution;
- Engage the public in natural resource concerns through outreach initiatives;
- Coordinate volunteer participation.
Members will primarily serve alongside Education and Outreach Department staff in the classroom and informal education settings, as well as represent the District at outreach events at project sites or community events. The Education and Outreach Technician will increase the community impact of District programming by planning and delivering lessons for youth, coordinating educational opportunities, recruiting and managing volunteers, and contributing to communication and marketing materials.
Member will also participate alongside other District staff and AmeriCorps members, supporting education and outreach efforts in Research and Monitoring and Resource Conservation, including service projects, conservation practice implementation, effectiveness monitoring, volunteer management, and professional development.
Member will need to be able to serve in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat) for extended periods of time over uneven terrain.
Anticipated program start date of November or December 2022 for a 1200-hour term of service. Service members are responsible for their own housing. A monthly stipend is provided by Washington Service Corps along with an education award upon the completion of service hours.

Compensation Information
$1,571.62/month stipend, with $4,546 education award at the completion of service.
