Summary
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and facilitate interactive and inquiry based environmental education programs to learners of all
ages and backgrounds in multiple settings including but not limited to schools, community engagements and
special events
• Organize and operate a local bird banding station that runs for five-weeks in the spring and five weeks in the
fall, including collecting relevant bird banding data and submitting the compiled data in a timely manner
• Responsible for creation and management of yearly program area budget
• Strategically identify and build authentic partnerships with diverse and underrepresented communities that
are reflective of the populations in which we work
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities desired:
• Solid understanding of environmental education standards and philosophy
• Able to identify, age and sex a variety of Colorado species and be familiar with use of the Pyle Guide
• Strong communication, leadership, facilitation and teambuilding skills
• Excellent organizational, logistical and time-management skills
• General knowledge of biology and ecology, specific to ecosystems found in Colorado
• Specific knowledge regarding bird identification, ornithology, and the natural history of birds
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Education and Experience desired:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in natural resources, life sciences, environmental interpretation,
or education, with two years of working experience in a related field, Master’s degree a plus
• Experience developing, marketing, administering, leading, and evaluating environmental
education/interpretation programs in formal and non-formal outdoor classroom settings
• Experience and confidence delivering scientific messages to diverse audiences
• Experience coordinating and supervising a diverse educator pool
• Two seasons of passerine mist-netting preferred (or 500+ birds banded)
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Compensation Information
Salary: $55,000-$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience
