Holden Forests & Gardens is hiring a Preschool Summer Camp Education Instructor to lead joyful, play-based nature camps for children ages 4–6 at Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in early childhood education and a passion for the outdoors. Sessions run during June and July, making the position perfect for teachers looking for summer job opportunities.

Summary

The Preschool Summer Camp Instructor leads and supports play-based, outdoor summer camp experiences for children ages 4–6 at Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden. This position is responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate environmental education activities including themed hikes, crafts, games, and hands-on exploration. 

The Preschool Instructor work closely with the Family & Youth Engagement Coordinators at both campuses and fellow camp staff to prepare materials, follow established lesson plans, support daily camp operations, and uphold health and safety standards. This role requires patience, creativity, and a strong understanding of early childhood development. Experience with preschool-aged children is highly desired. 

Sessions occur Tuesday-Thursday mornings during the months of June and July, with mandatory counselor training at the end of May. Weekly hours average between 12–15. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested and/or experienced in early childhood education, environmental education, or outdoor learning with previous experience working with ages 4–6.
