Education Coordinator

Position Overview: The Education Coordinator is a full-time position that reports to the Program Director. The Coordinator organizes and carries out Allegheny CleanWays’ education program related to litter and illegal dumping, along with performing additional volunteer and outreach duties.  

Primary Responsibilities 

Education 

• Maintain, revise, and generate curriculum materials including maintaining physical materials, keeping lesson content up to date, and creating content as needed for new programs and relationships.
• Maintain existing relationships and create new partnerships with educators by scheduling in-school and out-of-school visits.
• Create and host community education activities.
• Collaborate with organizational partners to host educational activities.
• Coordinate with the Land and Water Program Coordinators and/or independently lead service-learning activities (eg: litter, dumpsite, or water cleanups).
• Track and report on education and outreach activities.
• Manage special projects as needed.
• Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to generate educational social media posts. 

Volunteer Engagement and Outreach 

• Take the lead on representing the organization at tabling events throughout Allegheny County.
• Collaborate with Program Director to seek out potential new volunteers.
• Create and carry out ways to engage with volunteers outside of weekly cleanups. 

Cleanups 

• Participate in land and water cleanups. 

• Fill in at cleanups when schedule allows.  

Additional Responsibilities 

• Represent Allegheny CleanWays in the community by upholding our values, integrity and reputation. 
• Attend staff, board, committee and inter-organizational/community meetings as necessary. 

Qualifications & Skills 

• Required: Clearances for working with children (Child Abuse, Criminal Record Check, FBI Background Check); First Aid/CPR, driver’s license and reliable form of transportation; comfortable driving ACW vehicles.
• Preferred: Experience with environmental education and working with youth/community groups of various ages.
