Palouse Conservation District is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Education and Outreach Technician through the AmeriCorps National Service program. This position plays a crucial role in delivering educational programs to our local community, focusing on environmental stewardship and conservation practices.

Summary

Palouse Conservation District is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Education and Outreach Technician through the AmeriCorps National Service program. This position plays a crucial role in delivering educational programs to our local community, focusing on environmental stewardship and conservation practices.
 

This is a 1700-hour AmeriCorps position under the Washington Service Corps (WSC), spanning 10.5 months. The position is generally a 40 hour/week position, with some evening and weekend hours required.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver educational programming through hands-on lessons to students in classroom and outdoor settings
  • Conduct outreach efforts to engage the public in natural resource and agricultural issues
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities and manage volunteer participation in conservation activities
  • Assist in implementing conservation practices with local volunteer groups and student organizations

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Ability to present effectively in front of groups and work with youth of all ages
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions and over uneven terrain
  • Positive attitude, initiative, motivation, and a self-starter mentality
  • Experience and/or education relating to agriculture, natural resources, and education is valuable, but not required

Compensation Information

AmeriCorps provides a $2276/month stipend, as well as an education award to be used upon completion of the term. Health coverage, training, and childcare assistance if eligible are also provided. Palouse Conservation District provides some apparel, office needs, and a cell phone for work purposes.
