Ecology Center Camp Counselor

Join the Ecology Center seasonal staff for an exciting summer with summer camp participants! Ecology Center summer camps focus on environmental education and nature discovery in Evanston, Illinois just north of Chicago. Get hands-on experience working with children and delivering science and nature activities and lessons. Camp staff receive training before and during the summer camp season to support their professional growth.

Camp counselors are responsible for the supervision and safety of children ages 3-13 and camp day instruction. Counselors plan and lead games, nature discovery activities, and science lessons for camp participants. Counselors also assist with the supervision of assistant counselors and volunteers and communicate with the camp director and program coordinator concerning these individuals. Depending on the age of camp participants, camp sessions may include field trips, beach days, overnight campouts, canoeing, and fishing. Counselors participate in a week of camp training June 5 - 9 as well as online training. The camp season is June 5 through August 12.
