The emergent curriculum follows the natural seasons here at the farm. We use play as the most basic component. We take different
philosophies that we love (Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia) to best serve the student in front of us. We honor each student as an individual and see them as such. Teachers offer learning opportunities and children have the choice to engage and explore the materials offered. We allow the children to guide how long, and how deep we explore, often following their lead to an idea that is completely their own. They observe, predict and form conclusions based on experience.

Summary

Our goal is to provide rich experiences that make deep and lasting impressions. Children have a natural desire to handle, manipulate and explore. You may not see materials going home in backpacks, but you will certainly see proof of learning on messy clothes. We learn by doing. Learning is a process of discovering the world and how it works through active investigation. This provides a powerful foundation for all learning, now, and in the future.
