The Academy at the PARC is seeking an experienced and innovative leader to direct our Early Childhood Program. The position is available for the 2024–2025 school year, with the contract beginning in June 2024. Our Early Childhood program welcomes new families into the embrace of the Academy community, holding their classes with warmth, rhythm, and a reverence. We hold a deep value of connecting children to the land and spend much of the day outdoors in our varied early childhood play areas including 40 acres of forested trails, gardens and our farm.

Summary

The Academy provides a nurturing, play-based, developmentally attuned environment for our youngest students. Our activities include extensive time spent in nature, a focus on practical work, rich storytelling, creative and artistic experiences, movement and most importantly, self-directed play. Early Childhood Director’s Responsibilities
● Assumes the role of Lead Educator in one of the Early Childhood classrooms for the 2024-25 school year.
● Acts as the Team Lead and Mentor for all Early Childhood Educators, as well as a point of escalation for parent concerns.
● Works collaboratively with the Early Childhood Educators to create and implement a developmentally appropriate, Waldorf inspired pedagogical program, for ages 3-6.
● Oversees and facilitates processes that ensure the school’s pedagogical quality, consistency, coherence, and continuity.
● Provides visionary leadership and ensures that administrative and operational efforts are in alignment with our core values and Waldorf principles.
● Creates a culture of engagement and participation with the early childhood families and faculty in carrying out the school’s mission and vision.
● Pursues a path of inner development and models themselves in a way that is worthy of imitation.
● Leads in a mature and well-balanced manner. Characteristics should include: authenticity, transparency, trustworthiness, competence, openness, and respectfulness.
● Acts as an enthusiastic, articulate, and accessible representative of the school for our community and beyond.
● Works alongside the Administrative Team to ensure compliance with State licensing and regulations.
● Diligently enforces early childhood education federal, state, and local statutes; and complies with audit requirements and Health Department policies.
● Observes, records, engages, and stimulates children’s learning experiences in play-based environments both indoors and outdoors .

● Maintains a clean, orderly, aesthetically pleasing environment in EC classrooms and outdoor play areas.


Requirements and Qualifications
● Active Florida Director’s Credential is required
● Minimum of two years as a classroom teacher; two years of management/administration
● Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
● CPR Certification
● Enthusiasm for Waldorf education with a willingness to deepen your knowledge through
professional development.
● A working understanding of Waldorf Education and pedagogy in order to create the environment and activities that are developmentally appropriate
● Experience with Nature-Based learning
● Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to professionalism
● Willingness to be part of a culture that values professional growth and ongoing positive and
constructive feedback
● Leadership ability, including motivating school personnel to achieve goals and objectives, decision making, management skills and delegation, excellent oral and written skills


Schedule
● In person: Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm during the school year.
● Must attend the weekly faculty meeting, parent evenings, and school celebrations.
● Professional development training in the summer, up to 2 weeks.
● Summer Camp, up to 4 weeks.
● Time off: 1 week for Fall Break, 2 weeks for Winter Break, 1 week for Spring Break, annually.


Pay & Benefits
● $44,000- $48,000, based on experience.
● Paid time off.

Compensation Information
