Are you an experienced nature-based educator? Do you want to work with teachers and build capacity for NBE? Are you adept at multi-tasking? Are you a people-person with an eye for detailed coordination? If this sounds like you, read on to learn more about the Director of PD for ERAFANS!

Summary

Teacher smiles and holds a plant. The nonprofit Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools (ERAFANS) is seeking a new Director of Professional Development! Despite our name, we have trained teachers in all 50 states and in 24 countries. This is crucial role for our growing organization! Preference will be given to Maryland or DC-based residents but all are encouraged to apply.

The Director of Professional Development oversees a range of nature-based professional development experiences across the United States including: online webinars, courses, and series; in-person training events and workshops; school-based PD; and other customized programs to help meet teachers’ and members’ needs. Candidate must possess experience in nature-based education to coordinate and lead various professional development offerings.

The Director of Professional Development monitors PD trends to identify, create, and coordinate new and helpful content. In this way, the coordinator must flex with the needs of teachers while planning up to one-and-a-half years in advance for certain training. This position balances responsibilities of scheduling and coordinating PD requests with developing or facilitating select courses. On-going course evaluation and reporting is part of this role.

This position works closely with the Executive Director to craft a vision for ERAFANS professional development offerings with short- and long-term goals. The Director of Professional Development will also collaborate with, supervise, and evaluate course facilitators and guest presenters. Volunteers may support the Director of PD, either via the Board program committee or other ad hoc ‘working groups’ that are selected for specific project support.
