Annual salary range: $188,448 to $240,448

The Environment Department advances climate protection and enhances the quality of life for all San Franciscans. The Director empowers the department to support the City and County of San Francisco on these goals. The Director is expected to develop partnerships, lead by example, and push forward the department’s pledge for racial equity internally and throughout the San Francisco community.

The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with a knowledge of and passion for the City and County of San Francisco’s mission and vision for a net zero community by 2040. The Director will be a collaborative thought partner able to move the department’s goals for environmental impact forward while ensuring all actions are equitable internally and within the community. The incumbent will have the political acumen to develop and maintain relationships with other department heads and political officials while advocating for the needs of the Environment Department and its strategic goals.
