Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute is a nonprofit organization serving the region with outdoor programming in environmental and cultural education, and a wide variety of community events. Activities are conducted at various parks and natural areas around the greater Waynesboro area.

The mission of Buttonwood Nature Center is to guide the people of the Cumberland Valley region to become stewards of their natural and cultural worlds.
Job Summary
The director of education is responsible for overseeing established programs of the nature center at the K–12 grade levels, plus Naturalist Series programs for people of all ages through community offerings. In addition, the director of education will develop new naturalist experiences into the future, as well as develop new curricular programming for students; they will also deliver programming on occasion. The director of education also provides support for community events and fundraisers.
The director of education must work in cooperation with co-teachers, administrators, volunteers, interns, and all other personnel of Buttonwood Nature Center/The Institute.
Availability: Position is full time exempt, year-round and includes evening and weekend engagements throughout the year.
