Director

The Director of the Fairfield Region is a senior management position responsible for the fundraising, fiscal management, programming, and operations of the Center at Fairfield & the Birdcraft Museum as well as the relationships with the regional advisory board and within the community. The Director is a highly visible, energetic, and organized leader with a demonstrated passion for conservation.  The Director works in concert with other CAS staff to carry out the mission of the Connecticut Audubon Society.  The Fairfield Region is transforming and the Director will lead the vision of this transformation. The Director shares our organization’s value in and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our boards, staff, and program participants.

Responsibilities:

• Lead fundraising efforts, including major donor cultivation, special events, and foundation grants
• Research and assist CAS Grant Manager in the preparation of foundation grants
• Create partnerships with local businesses, academic institutions, NGOs, and governments
• Manage staff to ensure they are well-trained, meet their position requirements, and enjoy job satisfaction
• Meet financial objectives for Fairfield
• Work with CAS leadership team to establish and implement conservation, development, research, education, and communication strategies
• Build and maintain Advisory Board, including recruiting members in conjunction with the Nominating Committee

Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree in conservation, education, non-profit management or similar
• Outstanding organizational, managerial, donor management, and communication skills
• Skilled in networking and working with diverse audiences
• Experience in creating and building partnerships
• Physical capability to accomplish the responsibilities of the position
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
