Summary

Title: Digital Design Intern

Location: Based out of Washington, DC (part-time remote)

Position Dates: January 23rd, 2023 – December 15th, 2023 (47 Weeks)

Pay: $574/week + health benefits

Status: This is a full-time, temporary, 1700 hour AmeriCorps National Service position.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to be a part of an exciting and innovative education and interpretation team. The primary duties of this position are to help with a variety of digital and social media projects. The interns will create timely, relevant digital content for the park’s social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). The interns will capture footage to create short-form videos, contribute to the park’s photo library, and create visually appealing informational graphics.

This position is great for someone who has an interest or background in American History as well as digital media. The Individual Placement (IP) will primarily work on office-based assignments with the capacity to serve remotely under the mentorship and support of the NPS Staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Capturing and editing photos and short-form videos to create relevant digital content.
  • Create visually appealing informational graphics.
  • Develop educational programs, including activities, programs, and products for audiences of all ages and level of competency.
  • Writing posts for social media accounts and website, and researching new platforms and trends.
  • Creating content for distance learning for Pre-K to 6th grade.

In addition, the IPs will be encouraged to attend NPS-sponsored trainings, and have opportunities to study the fundamentals of interpretation and site specific topics related to the natural and cultural history of Washington DC and surrounding states.
