The Development & Communications Coordinator is a core member of the San Antonio River Foundation (SARF) and will work collaboratively with the team to achieve its fundraising and communications objectives. The Coordinator will support strategic communications, grant writing, fundraising, events, and donor engagement.

Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $52,000 Annually

SUMMARY: 

The Development & Communications Coordinator is a core member of the San Antonio River Foundation (SARF) and will work collaboratively with the team to achieve its fundraising and communications objectives. The Coordinator will support strategic communications, grant writing, fundraising, events, and donor engagement.

Salary Range: $48,000.00 to $52,000 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Fundraising Events:

  • Maintains, organizes, and manages existing fundraisers and special events from concept to completion, ensuring efficient operation, revenue, and exposure.
  • Creates and implements new fundraising events to build community awareness.
  • Coordinates fundraising for institutional and special donor/member events, including sponsorship outreach, management, and follow-up.
  • Works alongside the Executive Director and CPA to prepare, monitor, and distribute event budgets.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with established and new donors and partners.
  • Develops creative ways to recognize, support, and benefit members and donors.
  • Provides event support for programs that surround Confluence Park, Mission Reach, Museum Reach, and the Southern Basin.

Social Media and Marketing:

  • Creates and monitors social media and marketing for the San Antonio River Foundation.
  • Produces quality public communications on a regular basis across digital and print channels, including website content, press releases, eblasts, social media posts, short videos, newspaper or magazine articles, postcards, donor updates, and reports.
  • Supports SARF in communicating the impact of our work and raising funds to support our mission by creating compelling materials including project updates, fact sheets, donor communications and appeals.
  • Helps maintain SARF’s website by creating, publishing, and updating web pages in accordance with our branding and communications guidelines.

Grant Assistance:

  • Works alongside the Executive Director to identify and investigate grant opportunities.
  • Conducts grant research, and prepares grant proposals and reports, as assigned.
  • Helps maintain grant and reporting calendar.
  • All other duties and special projects as assigned.    

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

An Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business Management, Non-Profit Management, Communications, or a related field combined with two (2) years of relevant experience in digital communications and/or marketing, preferably for a nonprofit organization, (2) years of experience in fundraising and/or grant writing with a nonprofit organization, (1) year of experience planning, coordinating, and/or executing public events for a nonprofit or business or any combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Self-motivated, and proactive team player who takes initiative to identify and pursue opportunities and solve problems; Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a variety of tasks and projects independently; Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, with demonstrated ability to prepare well-designed and formatted documents and presentations, and basic knowledge of working with Excel spreadsheets; A passion for connecting people to parks and the outdoors with a multicultural perspective; Helpful but not required: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud; Interest or experience in graphic design, photography, or videography; Experience with WordPress; Experience using donor databases or CRMs.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.  

LANGUAGE AND REASONING SKILLS:

Demonstrable evidence of strong verbal and written communications skills, with experience using various media (print, web, social media); English language proficiency is required, and Spanish language proficiency is appreciated; Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) are required to effectively present information in a one-on-one, small or large group setting; Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse internal and external constituents (including donors and funding agencies) in an effective, inclusive, and professional manner.
