The Sierra Club's Military Outdoors (SCMO) Campaign is part of Outdoors for All and works to improve the lives of veterans and military families through connections with the outdoors, and inspire and empower new champions for the environment. The Deputy Campaign Director for Military Outdoors will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to connect military and veterans communities with nature and facilitate their participation in working to protect our environment.

Summary

Sierra Club’s Outdoors for All campaign seeks to advance a just, equitable, and inclusive movement that ensures access to the outdoors for all people. The Sierra Club Outdoors for All campaign has four priority campaign outcomes advanced through several campaigns and projects: 1) ensure public lands are welcoming and inclusive for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities and those with marginalized identities; 2) increase equitable access to nearby nature by protecting, expanding, activating, or improving connections to parks, trails, and other public lands through policy and authentic community engagement; 3) ensure children and youth have universal access to parks and public lands, and opportunities to experience and learn about nature through schools, out-of-school-time activities, and in their communities; and 4) connect veterans and military families with public lands through partnerships with veteran-serving entities such as the VA, Vet Centers and Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs). The Sierra Club's Military Outdoors (SCMO) Campaign is part of Outdoors for All and works to improve the lives of veterans and military families through connections with the outdoors, and inspire and empower new champions for the environment.

Scope: The Deputy Campaign Director for Military Outdoors will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to connect military and veterans communities with nature and facilitate their participation in working to protect our environment. The Deputy Campaign Director works in collaboration and partnership with Sierra Club’s multi-disciplinary teams and is responsible for the management, planning, coordination, and implementation of, as well as securing financial resources for the campaign.

Compensation Information

The salary for this position is $115,000-$135,000.
