As the residential programs coordinator at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (CEWC), this person is responsible for organizing and implementing residential programs for students, campers and adults. This includes summer camps, overnight programs, Fish and Learn programs, and Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) programs. Incumbent is also responsible for developing curricula, improving current programs, and assisting with animal care and other programs and activities at CEWC.

Summary

Job Responsibilities: As the residential programs coordinator at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (CEWC), this person is responsible for organizing and implementing residential programs for students, campers and adults. This includes summer camps, overnight programs, Fish and Learn programs, and Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) programs.  Incumbent is also responsible for developing curricula, improving current programs, and assisting with animal care and other programs and activities at CEWC.  Incumbent will aslo assist with the training and coordinating a cadre of seasonal staff/summer camp counselors to assist with programming at the center.  Other responsibilities include inventory and maintenance of supplies and equipment, purchasing supplies and materials, and assistance with regional education programs such as Keeping Georgia WILD Day.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, environmental science, historical preservation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university

OR

High school diploma/GED

AND

One year of experience required at the lower level Curator/Preservationist 1 (NRP030) or position equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Minimum qualifications plus:

Current DNR/WRD employees
An employment history in environmental education
Teaching experience
Curriculum writing experience
Training in Project WILD, Project WET, and/or Project Learning Tree
A two or four year degree in education or an equivalent natural resources field
Shooting sports experience
