Courtesy Boat Inspector Coordinator - $18/hour for 35 hours a week
The Courtesy Boat Inspector (CBI) Coordinator is responsible for training, scheduling, and supervising a team of about 40 part-time season staff. CBIs are located at local boat launches and speak with boaters about the importance of Clean, Drain, and Dry protocols and inspecting their boats and equipment for potential Aquatic Invasive Species. Plant Control Coordinator - $20/hour for 35 hours a week
The Cobbossee Watershed has three known Aquatic Invasive Plants in 5 separate waterbodies. The Plant Control Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Conservation to manage our plant control operations, including but not limited to, driving boats, diving for hand removal of submerged plants, and installing benthic barriers. Applicants best suited for the role will have some experience with maintenance and use of outboard motors, an interest in plant identification and botany, and the ability to lead a small team by example, prioritizing safety. Plant Survey Coordinator - $18/hour for 20 to 30 hours a week
Out of 28 lakes ponds and streams within the Cobbossee Watershed, 5 are known to have Aquatic Invasive plants. Every summer, the Friends surveys uninfested waterbodies for the presence of suspicious species. The Plant Survey Coordinator will be responsible for leading a small team in kayaks and other paddle craft around the entire watershed, surveying areas most vulnerable for infestation. Interest or experience in plant identification is a must, and ability to paddle around 5 hours a day, 5 days a week weather permitting. Youth Conservation Corps Coordinator - $18/hour for 30 to 35 hours a week
Every season, the Friends hires a team of 6 to 8 young professionals to work on shoreline restoration, erosion control, and sedimentation projects. The Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day logistics for the team, work directly with the technical advisor in the implementation of project site plans, speak directly with homeowners, maintain safe manual labor practices, and perform other tasks as needed by the organization. Compensation Information
Coordinator positions are $18 to $20 per hour as described above. These are seasonal positions with some flexibility in start and end dates for the summer. Training is provided for the right applicants. Professional development opportunities are available throughout the season.
