The Virginia Zoo seeks a full-time Conservation Engagement Specialist to develop, deliver, and evaluate engaging mission-driven programs on Zoo grounds and in the community. These programs include, but are not limited to, educator chats, early childhood programs, animal ambassador pop-ups, special events, and community science programs.

Summary

The Conservation Engagement Specialist works within the Mission Engagement department to maximize the effectiveness of the Virginia Zoo’s interpretive and conservation engagement programs. The Conservation Engagement Specialist develops, delivers, and evaluates all Virginia Zoo conservation engagement programs. This position also trains part-time interpreters and volunteers to deliver these programs. The Conservation Engagement Specialist works with the Animal Ambassador team and will handle animals for programs. This is a full-time position working a Sunday-Thursday shift. Typical hours are 8:30am-5pm. Occasional evening and Friday or Saturday hours may be required.

Compensation Information

Starting range is $19-21/hr depending on experience.
