Conservation & Ecological Restoration Summer Intern

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Previous coursework in ecology, conservation, natural resource management, plant biology, horticulture, forestry,
  entomology, and/or familiarity with local plant and insect species is preferred
• Previous coursework, experience, or familiarity with research and monitoring methods is recommended
• Ability to work in a team with other interns and Conservation Staff
• Must be able to work outdoors performing strenuous work in hot and humid weather
• The ability to lift to 25 pounds, move safely over uneven terrain, climb stairs and work frequently outdoors

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

• Identify native plants and/or pollinating insects
• Monitor field plots to assist with long-term ecological studies
• Invasive species management, along with various removal methods including herbicide application
• Assist or lead an ongoing or pilot research study related to conservation and ecological restoration practices
• Assist best management practices associated with conservation, ecological restoration and natural resource
  management including native plant propagation, trail mulching, and assisting staff with daily duties
