Summary
Position: Student Researcher - Community Science & Volunteer Program
Location: 277 Great Neck Rd., West Kingston, RI
Start Date: March/April (6-month position)
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-4:00 pm with occasional work outside of core hours
Overview
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Division of Fish and Wildlife is seeking an innovative self-starter to assist with its Community Science and Volunteer Program.
One of the main goals of the Community Science and Volunteer Program is to increase public engagement and knowledge about local wildlife and conservation efforts through community science and volunteer opportunities. The Division works to provide these meaningful experiences to people of all ages, abilities, and communities. During the spring and summer seasons, the Program provides several unique opportunities for individuals to engage in projects such as diamondback terrapin monitoring, herring and bumblebee survey counts, bird banding, and many more.
Job Summary
Related duties include helping facilitate volunteer/community science events, programs, and trainings; supporting communication with new and existing volunteers and program participants; assisting with the design of program-related outreach materials; and, supporting the organization and maintenance of digital and print volunteer forms and records. Strong oral and written communication skills and customer service skills are required, as well as being highly organized and proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel.

Compensation Information
Pay: $14.25/hour (35-hour work week)
