Summary

We are hiring for multiple AmeriCorps positions for our 2023 service year! Please read below and follow the links to learn more and apply:

  • Community Schools 900 Hour (half-year) AmeriCorps Service Opportunity -- January through June 2023
  • Economic Empowerment 900 Hour (half-year) AmeriCorps Service Opportunity -- January through June 2023

Serving across various Community Schools (Elementary/Middle/High school site placements in Multnomah County) and MFS program offices, our half-year MFS Community School & Economic Empowerment AmeriCorps Members will:

  • With training, lead community outreach efforts and collect community insights on climate resiliency and climate action
  • Develop and Lead social-emotional learning & skill-building for students with an emphasis on building student identity and belonging.
  • Coordinate family events, food pantry distributions, resources and workshops centered on community wellbeing.
  • Actively Participate in professional & personal development trainings & workshops.
  • Lead & Support site-specific projects and activities as defined in the school site-specific service descriptions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Desire and ability to work with children and families and ensure an enriching, positive, safe setting
  • At least 18 years of age
  • A US Citizen, US National, or lawful permanent resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Commitment to completing a full term of service (1700/1200 hours) and participation in required national days of service

These positions are considered covered positions with access to vulnerable populations. Applicants selected for the position must complete a 3 part criminal history check including a nationwide NSOPW search, an FBI fingerprint check, and a state of residence and state of service check.

The ability to read, write and speak fluently in both English and a second language in this position is highly valued.
