Are you passionate about connecting people with nature and your local community? The McHenry County Conservation District is looking for an individual to represent the District at public events, festivals, and community programs across the County.

Summary

In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with local organizations and county partners to create and deliver meaningful, community-based programs and experiences. From hosting fun, educational activities at festivals to coordinating custom programs for local groups and co-hosting events with non-profits and partners in the community, you’ll play a key role in building awareness and inspiring connections to the natural world.

What are we looking for? Someone with passion and knowledge in conservation, education and outreach who can make a difference through positive interaction with others in a variety of age groups. Due to the overarching responsibilities of designing, implementing, coordinating, administering, supervising and evaluating education programs, this individual must be organized with strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong candidates will have experience facilitating and leveraging community partnerships. Furthermore, because many community events take place outside regular hours, we’re looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can work frequent evenings and weekends.

Lastly, we are also looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Education and/or Interpretation, Outdoor Education, Science Teaching, or related field and four (4) years of related experience in related experience. While not required, some staff or volunteer supervision experience is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
